Today I did a clean up of my wardrobe and my shoe-drobe, something I like to do every now and again, maybe three times a year. I usually cull my high-street clothing that I have worn to death and I keep my wardrobe staples and investment items. When it comes to my shoes, I don’t really like to cull them, you never know when you might need a pair of blue point toe heels, even if you have never worn them before. Also, I know it is tricky to sell second hand shoes. I am what you would call a shoe girl, some girls are bag-girls but not me, I prefer spending more on my footwear, I don’t really know why, it is just something I have always loved- shoes. Unlike clothing, you don’t grow out of your shoes (except on the odd occasion after having a child) so it is this reason I invest in my shoe-drobe.

On my recent trip to NYC, I did most of my shopping in the shoe department, I was filling in the gaps of my shoe-drobe, on the hunt for the styles I don’t currently have in good quality designer shoes. I picked up a pair of thigh high Saint Laurent boots that have a medium heel, these babies will last me forever and they will be my only heeled thigh highs. I found some Saint Laurent Ankle boots with studs, 50% off so I bought them… well, I wasn’t missing a pair of ankle boots but they were 50% off! A pair of Nike sneakers, Celine sandals and Valentino Rockstuds later, I realised I have a shoe problem! No, but its ok, they are all investments, good quality shoes that will live in my drobe forever!
Jokes aside, it is the truth, investing in good quality shoes will save you spending that $150 every time your cheap shoe breaks or makes your little toe bleed, just ensure you go by the number one rule: Always buy your correct size, never buy a smaller shoe size than what you are because you really want them, trust me, you will regret it and never wear them due to the pain! the pain! and as I mentioned it is way to hard to sell second hand shoes, you will never get the money back that you think you deserve.
