Megan Hess for Westfield

Megan Hess Megan Hess

The only subject at high school I was ever good at was Art. I excelled at illustration and even entered two large illustration artworks into an exhibition during year 12 and then during my time at TAFE (Visual Merchandising) I spent my free time drawing and using different mediums such as charcoal and oil pastels to break up my usual leap for a Derwent pencil. Since starting full time work, getting married, starting my blog and having a child, it seems the days of sharpening a pencil are long behind me (unless its my Chanel Le Crayon Khol 62 eyeliner) however, my appreciation for illustrators, especially the unity of fashion meets illustrator, is stronger then ever!

Names such as Pippa McManus, Aaron Favaloro and of course Megan Hess are my local favourites and it just so happens that Megan Hess (illustrator for ‘Sex & the City’ author Candice Bushnell’s book covers) is bringing fashion and art together. Megan┬áHess has teamed up with Westfield Doncaster to bring Melbournians a special shopping meets art experience with The Sketch House, an in-centre fashion illustration studio that allows shoppers to become the subject of their own artist-drawn fashion sketch.

From August 7 to August 11, The Sketch House will be located on level one high fashion at Westfield Doncaster and will include an exhibition of megan’s famous sketches including some from here collaborations with luxury labels such as Dior, Saint Laurent, Chanel and Cartier. Westfield Doncaster is also inviting all of its fashion-savvy shoppers to enter to win an exclusive sitting with Megan Hess as well as a $500 Westfield gift card and a copy of Megan’s book Fashion House (details here)

It is my DREAM to be sketched by a fashion illustrator, so it looks like I will be heading to Westfield Doncaster to make it happen!
