Big bang!

In 2011/2012 we have seen an explosion of colour, bold and solid, power prints mixed with florals and the like, but taking cues from abroad (as we should) it’s time to move forward from this kelidescope and say hello to the next big fashion thing. Think: watercolours, pastels in prints, neon highlights, mirrored prints and softened blocked colours. Mint, lavender and soft blues should be key in your wardrobe later this year (or now if you are overseas or fashion obsessed) So, keep doing what you’re doing but just tone it down.

So, I am going off with a bang! in my fun crazy bold coloured pants (which I love might I add and I do have a few more months up my sleeve to wear these) and I am ready to welcome all things gelato into my wardrobe!

So MBFWA has come and gone and now it’s back to reality. Not a whole lot to say, I am still settling in at home after a whirl wind trip to Sydney.

MBFWA alice McCall

BABOOSHKA SS12/13

Another day another runway here at MBFWA and first up this morning was alice McCall. Off I went to sneak peek BTS as the style teams worked in force to get the models hair and makeup ready. Lead hair stylist Sophie Roberts from ghd had her team creating a Heidi style look with a distinct middle part, two plaits wrapped around softly, portraying that real folky, feminine and girly look that we perceive when we think of when wearing plaits in our hair.

This was my outfit today at the GHD media wall with my fresh GHD blow wave!

Babooshka, Babooshka, Babooshka-ya-ya!

Wow! never have I attended a runway and loved everything I saw walk down the runway- until now! This collection stole my heart immediately from the first look to the last. I loved the strong femininity, the pastels, the peplums, florals and overall story behind this collection. Inspired by Hungarian folk art, stained glass, floral embroideries and babooshka  dolls, alice McCall called upon these elements when designing her collection. My favourite being the lampshade style skirts and floral pale blue top layered with bold statement necklaces adding a modern direction to the campaign.

Just another Good Hair Day @MBFWA

MBFWA has arrived and so have I, well, a day late but better late than never. My biggest challenge so far was only packing garments that I had purely chosen for my four looks for four events. I had to restrain myself from tossing in another pair (or ten) of heels and maybe an extra cheeky dress for the road. Although jam packed to the brink, my Samsonite Raspberry coloured Light and Bright was my hero.

DAY 2 MBFWA (My 1st day)

As the guest blogger for ghd Australia, it was an early start for me to be dressed, ready and at the MBFWA HQ at 8:45am in time to go back stage at the Toni Maticevski show and get amongst the hustle and bustle on all things pre show. Make-up artists, hair stylists, nail technicians, models, media, me! oh my! It was a world of coordinated mayhem back stage with ghd teams a-go-go styling the model’s hair to beehive perfection. Lead by head hair stylist Jayne Wild, the team created a look influenced by an alien-esque or cone head feel embodied with an overall abundance of elegance. This hair creation giving another dimension to the sensational Spring Summer 12/13 collection that Toni Maticevski showcased today.

Combining a opulent softness with an elegant and structured silhouette, this collection was a fashion lovers dream. Each piece that slowly drifted down the runway to the beat of Lana del Rey’s ‘video games’ was not only beautiful but wearable. I loved the peplums, the structure, the dash of yellow and a strong fresh presence.

Lucky me had a wash and style from a leading ghd salon and THE coolest salon I have even been in might I add: People Hair Dressing in Surry Hills. My stylist Morena wizzed away with the super powerful ghd air hairdryer and tamed my ridiculously thick head of hair with finishing products for a bouncy, fresh and wavy fashion week look. Thanks Morena and GHD!

Thanks Cecylia.com for the above snap of me x

What I wore: Scanlan & Theodore top, Oasis pants, Fendi B Belt, Asos ring, Celine Shopper, Paris Street Society necklace and Tony Bianco Karissa heels.

So goss at the moment is that I am planning my outfits for MBFWA and I am finding it a lot harder then I thought I would. I have the new Samsonite B’Lite FRESH suitcase in Raspberry which is ultra light so I can pack more than I should but I really want to nail the 4 looks that I am planning on taking so there is no fussing in the mornings. Searching online for the perfect pieces and of corse flicking through the usuals, Asos, my-wardrobe, Topshop etc I found an online store called Zalando which have a few key designers like Kors, Moschino, Just Cavalli, Givenchy and one of my fav shoe designers Vicini (you would have seen my Vicini tan ankle boots in many a post) I am pretty sure they will ship to Australia soon so I will be staying tuned! So back to my outfits I will just have to keep you posted as to what I come up with!

7-Eleven Pink Ribbon Races at Caulfield

With a splash of pink in my Karen Hamilton hat, my JLH for Siren shoes and wearing my new fav dress from Runwayscout I attended the 7-ElevenPink Ribbon Races in Caulfield last weekend and thought it important to do a little feature on it as I am a big supporter of creating awareness for such events. I had a fabulous day with Sarah Kempson sipping a pink slurpee, devouring a Krispy Kreme Doughnut (or two) and judging the ‘best dressed in pink’ fashions. What a wonderful Saturday I had at the races all whilst supporting a good cause.
