Appropriately dressed in ‘neon clover green’, last night I joined the fun at Melbourne Town Hall for an exclusive sneak peak of the Emirates marquee’s Irish them for this year’s Melbourne Cup Carnival.
Adding to the fun-loving Irish vibe was guest Brian McFadden, who performed his version of U2’s With Or Without You, a taste of whats to come during Cup week where he will entertain guests with an exclusive Irish performance in the Emirates Marquee.
A delicious roaming Irish inspired menu teased the taste buds of the guest with home-style beef and Guinness pie, Minty Blarney Meatballs, Shamrock Pie (my new favourite treat) and Classic Irish Stew all featuring on the menu during the four-day carnival.
A highlight of my evening was seeing the Christine Ayres Irish Dancers, Headed by the charismatic Liam Ayres, recently crowned World Champions in Belfast dance. I have never seen Irish dancing before and I was absolutely mesmerised by their energiser feet.
Officiating the evening’s events Barry Brown, Emirates’ Vice President Australasia, said Emirates was excited to bring to life all the best known and cherished elements of Ireland in what will be an Irish cultural festival.
The best is yet to come…

What a spectacular night! Last night I attended the first of the Designer Series Runways for MSFW and it was fabulous. We have such a high calibre of designers here in the land of Oz and this was evident at last nights show. I have highlighted above my stand out pieces and the key trends that I saw strut the runway, that being prints, strong accessories, metallics, structure and a real push in forward fashion. Stealing my heart (and never letting me down) was Aurelio Costarella with a turquoise bodice dress with a drop waist layered ruffle as the skirt, topped with a couture pom pom style headpiece.
Looking forward to another night and this time we will be filming the show x

Friday night was the opening Gala for the MSFW 2012 and it blew me away! From the moment I entered the grand Melbourne Town Hall, its beauty was enhanced ten fold with opulent styling, bold and spectacular floral arrangements, flowing champagne and most importantly, a room full of fashion people.
I am so lucky I had this never worn Aqua dress sitting in my wardrobe for a rainy day because it was perfect for the event. I had such a fun night, MSFW really know how to put on a show and how to please my appetite, there was an oyster and sushi buffet and to tempt me even more, a dessert bar! I ate about 6 macaroons with my accomplice Cecylia. I was also so happy to catch up with Micah Gianneli and Jesse Maricic from Raww blog whom I have not seen for way too long.
I am looking forward to a week long of fashion and will be giving you a front row seat to the runways I attend as I will be filming them for you- stay tuned xoxox
Thanks to Jesse from Raww Blog for the photographs x
I was up and at it early this morning, and even though I am up at 6am every morning, today was more of an incentive to spring out of bed as fashion tends to do that to me. I arrived at Chadstone the Fashion Capital at 8:15am for the media showing of Zara, Australia’s fourth store to open. The gorgeous interior and the new image concept was launched here and reflects the same concept as Fifth Ave in NY, a more visual and simplicity design with forward facing racks giving you the shopper the ultimate experience when it come to outfit styling.
I was super impressed with the stock, it was on season, on trend and even ahead of trend too with some of next seasons pieces displayed and some exclusive accessories launched for us Aussies.
Whist the Zara team gave us (us being a few bloggers and media, my friend Cecylia sent me this great pic of us with Connie from K is for Kani) a tour of the store and an insight to the collections I had my eye on a few key pieces that I was going to dash to after the tour to purchase before a whirl wind of customers stampeded the store. If you follow my instagram you will see what I bought! Be sure to check the store out, the collections are amazing and great prices- this goes for the whole store, womens, mens, kids and accessories! LOVE!
Every girls wardrobe defines them: how they present themselves, that special purchase they made on their travels, that one luxury piece that they treasure oh-so-dearly as it cost them two months rent, their mum’s dress or necklace from the 60′s and the oldest piece in the wardrobe that they would never part with.
By now, you kind of know my wardrobe and the pieces I have as I showcase them regularly on my blog since I started blogging back in early 2010 and for those who recall in one of my first ever posts I call my wardrobe ‘my haven’ my escape. I came up with the idea of doing a video blog of my wardrobe when a dear blogger friend Cecylia came over for a visit and after seeing my wardrobe she suggested I show it to my readers. It is funny because I am a little nervous in front of the video camera (as you will see) despite posing in front of an DSLR most days. I also realised that my readers don’t really know me apart from what they perceive of me from my images. My friends and blogger friends know me and my personality but you, the lovely reader who I am yet to meet don’t, so I hope that this video shows a different side to me compared to the posed stills you have seen before.
My photographer Lisa Frieling, who has been the official What Would Karl Do? photographer since way back when, created this vimeo for me. I wish I could turn the camera around on her to show you how beautiful and genuinely lovely this girl is, not to mention extremely talented as you, yourself have witnessed with my photos. Lisa totally knows my vision and is an amazing talent who spent hours into perfecting, producing and filming this short film for me.
Many thanks to the talented boys from Melbourne’s The Messengers, for allowing us to use their amazing track, ‘We Can’t Get Along’. Hope you enjoy xo
