Vanessa Bruno Backstage PFW
It was all about Parisian cool for the Vanessa Bruno hair style. Eugene Souleiman drew inspiration for this look from real hair, real people with subtle and simple elements to give a raw natural feel.
“I wanted to create a hair look that had the cleanness of minimalism yet gives the feeling of looseness and sensuality. This is the first time I have worked for Vanessa Bruno and when we met to discuss the look we had great synergy and both wanted the same thing, something cool and uncontrived but with subtle touches of detail. Vanessa creates cool clothes for cool girls, she understands how girls want to look and this hairstyle echoes that feeling” said Eugene Souleiman, Global Creative Director, Care & Styling, Wella Professionals.
Keeping it minimal and clean, Wella Professionals Velvet Amplifier was used on wet hair before blow drying, it acts as a primer and helps to give a natural satin finish to the hair. A centre part was seen on all the girls giving a neat look and towards the ends Wella Ocean spritz was used to create a contrasting texture giving life to this cool and elegantly sexy look.
I had another awe struck moment when Cara Delevigne walked into the hectic room in her ‘whatever’ beanie which was to soon come off as she lead the team of models down the runway. When Steph (my fellow Aussie from Watermelon crush blog) and I saw a glimpse of the empt stage, tingles came over us as we knew that in less than two hours time, the vibe in that room would be electric and a feast full of fashions finest would be seated to see Vanessa Bruno showcase her A/W13 collection.
Get the Look:
- Start with clean freshly washed and conditioned hair, using Wella Professionals Enrich Shampoo and Conditioner, to ensure hair is in perfect condition
- Apply Wella Professionals Velvet Amplifier Hair Primer to wet hair and blow dry with a round brush keeping the hair flat to the head
- Apply Wella Professionals Perfect Setting Blow Dry lotion to help keep hair flat and smooth
- Create a centre parting and using a fine tooth comb, comb the hair through to create asmooth finish and position behind the ear
- Release a small piece of hair on both sides of the front of the head so they fall in front of theears
- Spray Wella Professionals Ocean Spritz Beach Texture Spray on the end lengths of the hairfrom the ear bone downwards, then gently twist the long hair and apply heat from a blow dryer with a diffuser – this will allow the hair to ‘set’ and provide a raw contrasting texture to the hair
- If time allows, clip the twist in place loosely for a little more texture, and release when ready
Issey Miyake A/W 2013 Backstage
Well, here I am in beautiful but extremely cold Paris and what better way to distract me from the cold elements then to head back stage at the Issey Miyake A/W13 show with Wella.
Let me introduce you to Wella Professionals Global Creative Director for Care and Styling, Eugene Souleiman. This creative stylist and fun loving guy, demonstrated the hair look for the Issey Miyake show.
The inspiration: Astral Flight, keeping the hair light and organic, taking cues from the collection of printed textiles and airial views of landscapes.
“The Issey Miyake collection is famed for being very conceptual which made me want to create a contrasting hair look that was organic and looked as if it could be created in five minutes – although the reality is it took a lot longer” said Eugene.
The core of creating this look was in the preparation of giving the hair volume at the roots and static throughout for a result of airy, light and workable hair. Movement was key to defining this look as the model on the runway would bring life to this hair style with every step. This not so effortlessly pieced together look was the perfect support cast for the fabulous Issey Miyake collection that was about to hit the runway.
Paris Fashion Week Day 1 Street Style
Lets just say, I died and went to fashion heaven when I saw with my very own eye, my style icon Anna Dello Russo! Ok, rewind… so I arrived in Paris this morning at 6:30am and after being stuck in nightmare traffic, Georgie and I arrived at our hotel Castille at 8am. Our room, of course was not ready so we decided to do what two ordinary girls would do… we went to Disneyland!
It is freezing here in Paris and there were traces of snow in Mickey’s stomping ground, for this reason, we spend most of the time shopping for my little boy. On arrival back into the heart of Paris, our beautiful room was ready, we showered, changed and hit the building next door, which so happened to be the original CHANEL store! Should I call it fate that I am staying next to the store, that, three years ago was the conception place of my blog? This trip was meant to be and I have a really positive feeling about what lies ahead for me in the next five days. I suppose the fact that only an hour later I see, with my own two eyes, my holy style icon herself, Anna Dello Russo arriving at the Rochas show. Shortly followed by Anna Wintour, Christina Centenera, Grace Coddington, Olivia Palermo and Cara Delevigne.
