I don’t know about you, but this winter chill is leaving me so un-inspired that I am struggling to peel off my gym gear. I have spent the last few hours finding some cool winter street style looks that re-lit my fashion spark and has me itching to hit the shops tomorrow to replenish my winter wardrobe or to even dig through my existing wardrobe and mix and match what I have. I hope you get a good does of inspo from this post as I have or perhaps check out the winter fashion from my trip to Paris in March HERE!
It has been a few months since I got back from Paris Fashion Week for Wella but I wanted to share a little bit of footage with you of my amazing trip. You see me at Disney Land, shopping at Chanel, getting snapped by the street style photographers outside the shows and a bit of backstage at Vanessa Bruno and Haider Ackermann.
Thanks Georgie Dempsey for the footage and for being my travel buddy!
Edun is a global fashion brand bringing about positive change through its trading relationship with Africa. Founders Ali Hewson & Bono (U2 singer) started the brand in 2005 and have seen it grow from tshirts to a full seasonal collection and become a global fashion brand. Created to make beautiful clothes in a way that was fair to everyone and a way that would benefit Africa, Edun is providing work and trade to the country.
During my time in Paris, I stopped by the Edun Showroom to see the A/W2013 Collection. They say first impressions last and for me, this collection still remains in my mind since the day I saw it. A strong punk presence (but in an elegant way) was seen throughout the racks, my eye immediately drawn to the pops of deep pinks, reds and lime in an otherwise classic black collection. The finer details of zips, pockets and tweed fabrics give the garments a strong relevance of todays forward fashion and a good reference to the 80′s/90′s. I could have picked out 6-10 key items I fell in love with and as for the men’s collection? Well, it was so cool, I found myself saying ‘Oh, I’d love my husband to wear that’ to almost every piece. Lucky for us in Australia, Edun will soon expand its presence in our stores, but for now, I suggest you watch the runway and get ready for a POSITIVE fashion take over.
“Edun is our voice, to help raise awareness for the possibilities in Africa, its why we exist”Ali Hewson, founder
When I shoot an outfit post in Melbourne, I am always trying to find ‘cool’ locations and backdrops but in Paris, you could shoot anywhere and it would be fab. What gets me every time with Paris is not just the fashion, but the architectural history. Here, I am at Place Vendôme(French pronunciation: ?[plas v??dom]) is a square in the 1st arrondissement of Paris, France, located to the north of theTuileries Gardens and east of the Église de la Madeleine. It is the starting point of the Rue de la Paix. Its regular architecture by Jules Hardouin-Mansart and pedimented screens canted across the corners give the rectangular Place Vendôme the aspect of an octagon. The original Vendôme Column at the center of the square was erected by Napoleon I to commemorate the battle of Austerlitz; it was torn down on 16 May 1871, by decree of the Paris Commune, but subsequently re-erected and remains a prominent feature on the square today. Thanks Wikipedia
Many fashion shows were held in the buildings here, one being the Haider Ackermann one I was backstage at.
I might be back in sunny Melbourne but my Paris coverage is not over. Seeing the Eiffel Tower for the third time felt just as special as it did the first. Coming back to Paris as a fashion blogger gave me a great opportunity to do my outfit posts with the most movie like backdrop in the world, just to step it up a notch.
This is one of my fav outfits I wore during my five days, my matching Shakuhachi cape and skirt in tartan give me great confidence, I am not sure why but I felt so Paris-chic but with a punk edge. As I am loving the matchy/clashy trend I added these tartan stockings in for some dimension.
