Perry Squared

Usually when someone has the same surname as a high profile person it’s usually turned into a common and repeated joke for example ‘Oh Jess Dempsey, are you related to Patrick Dempsey? haha” But for the surname Perry here in Australia it is an immediate recognition of fashion and food royalty. Joking to the fashionably fabulous and exclusively invited attendees sitting in a make believe Spring garden setting at Crown Casino’s Atrium, the two Perry’s: Alex and Neil make fun of their shared surname and how they are often accidentally mistaken for each other.

This collaboration of the two masters of their own industries was part of the L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival, an exclusive front row seat showcasing the Alex Perry collection and a splendid excuse to have high tea from Neil Perry’s opulent new lounge/cocktail bar The Waiting Room. I must add that it was the best assortment of savoury and sweet I have ever eaten.

I had a wonderful time mixing with Melbourne’s elite, indulging in delicious scones and jam and admiring the stunning collection Alex Perry created, whilst in the best hotel in Melbourne.

What I wore: Skirt: Aqua, Top: Mink Pink slip, Shoes: Zara, Necklace: Glorious Occasion, Bag: Chanel, Ring: Fendi

THE FRONT ROW BLOGGER

I had the pleasure of being invited to sit front row with some other amazing bloggers at the Mimco Dreamwarp collection runway at LMFF. I wore my ultra wonderful Heiress Crystal Mimco Choker that completed my look without taking away from my Karl sequin shorts. To me Mimco was one of (if not the first) Australian designer that I purchased back when I was a teenager. Didn’t everyone have the Itsy Bitsy Button Bag? Well now in 2012 they are bigger and more fashion than ever with their magnificent Dreamwarp collection highlighting statement jewellery, luxurious head wear and of course the leather bag.

As a stylist myself I was in love with the styling of the runway. The dramatic make up and hair on the models set the tone for a strong and jewellery-heavy collection that inspired me to double up on the necklace situation and appreciate a good statement ring or two.

Lucky me got a feature in The Age yesterday- check out the article HERE

A huge highlight to my time at LMFF thats for sure!
