When creating the hair style for a runway many things are considered but first and foremost comes the inspiration. The core of the inspiration is the collection itself and the soundtrack, style of model, make up and of course the hair is delivered from this.
Backstage at the Haider Ackermann show, Eugene Souleiman and the Wella team were busy perfecting the chosen hair look for the models. The inspiration: A modern day Marilyn Monroe who may or may not have just spent the night in the army barracks having a little too much fun, if you know what I mean?. Her hair is old school peroxide bleached blonde with contrasting dark roots giving a modern edge, her once neat up do is now a little messed up and raw giving reference to a night of romance. This little story is the essence of the inspiration and works back with the soundtrack of a Marilyn song and the strong military presence in the collection.
To get this hair style that Eugene Souleiman created, half wigs were bleached and glued onto the models front hair line. The bleached hair makes it easy to style, a ponytail is made and with the help of Wella Ocean spritz, sections of the hair was left out to give movement and a dishevelled punk feeling. Talc powder was sprinkled onto the hair to make the hair more porous and workable.
You can really appreciate the entirety of a production a fashion show is and how just one inspiration leads the way to an exceptional outcome.
Oh wow I used to use Wella ocean spritz when my hair was shorter – nothing as elaborate or wonderful as these hairstyles of course. It’s nice to see the possibilities with a little imagination! 🙂
