I am so glad that I finally get to talk about Christmas, my favourite time of the year, a time when I get a little emotional about how fast my children are growing up, a time when I see such joy on their little faces and a time to reflect on just how lucky we are.
Last year, I didn’t get to enjoy and really soak up the Christmas spirit and festivities as much as I wanted to, I was so busy working right up until Christmas day and I remember sitting in my lounge room, wrapping presents and watching Carols by Candlelight thinking, “I can’t believe tomorrow is Christmas” and I felt a little sad that I didn’t stop to pause and enjoy the lead up. In that moment, I made a vow to get amongst the celebrations, festivities and go to as many Christmas parties and carols as I could squeeze in the next year, to feel fulfilled at the end of the year and not miss a single opportunity to see my children’s faces light up at any sight of a Christmas tree.
So, first stop, is early Christmas shopping! As a blogger, I spend a lot of time at my local post office and most days I have to take my eldest son Aston in with me and every time, without fail, as I wait in line, he walks up to me with a toy he has found on the shelf and tries to bargain with me why he deserves it (a car salesman in the making). I always seem to walk in to deliver a parcel and walk out with a toy or a book in one of my children’s hands. – Before having children, I didn’t know that post offices had a great range of toys available in store and online.
My boys, Aston and Will, had a sneak peek at the Australia Post Christmas toy collection, I had Katie the photographer come over and capture the moments when they first saw the toys. I always get asked the questions “what do I buy a two-year-old boy?” and “what does a five-year-old like these days?” Well, simply take a look at the images above! Will loves soft toys and anything with wheels, he took a real fancy to the soft toy dog and the Batman suitcase, which is great because Santa will be bringing him a little suitcase for when he visits grandma’s house! Aston starts school next year and he loved the dinosaur toys and the games, he loves to learn and sit quietly and play by himself.
For me as a mum, I love the idea of convenience and that is why I already shop at my local post office. It’s a one-stop-shop, it isn’t over packed with too many toys that you stand there for hours comparing one toy to another, they have narrowed down the selection for you and, beyond the toys, there is something for everyone, from cook books, to reading books, small tech accessories and gift cards.
Yes, this is a sponsored post, but as I said this is where I have been picking up some great toys and board games to give to Aston’s kinder friends as birthday gifts. The biggest feedback I get from my readers is that I keep it real, and let’s be honest; this is the perfect example of keeping it real!
Let me know what you pick up at your local post office for Christmas – I bet I already have it! You can shop the online store, here.
